SHORT BIO:
Dr. Newaz received his B.Sc. degree in Information and Communication Engineering from East West University (EWU), Dhaka Bangladesh. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 2010 and 2013, respectively. While pursuing Ph.D. at KAIST, he worked as a visiting research at Telecom SudParis (TSP), France. After completion of his Ph.D., he served as a postdoctoral researcher at KAIST from Aug. 2013 to July. 2016, Currently, Dr. Newaz is working as a Lecturer under the School of Computing and Informatics (SCI) at Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), Brunei Darussalam. He is also holding an adjunct professor position at KAIST, South Korea.
Dr. Newaz has written and co-authored in more than 60 prestigious international journals, conferences and book chapter such as IEEE Internet Computing, Elsevier Computer Network, IEEE Communication Letter, Elsevier Applied Energy, Elsevier Optical Fiber Technology (OFT), IEEE Access, ACM SIGCOMM, IEEE WCNC, and IEEE VTC. He also served as a reviewer of Springer Wireless Network journal, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Access, IEEE Communication letter, Elsevier Renewable Energy, Int. J. of Ad Hoc and Ubiquitous Computing, Elsevier Journal of Network and Computer Applications, IEEE VTC and ICACT. His research interests include energy-efficient passive optical networks, IoTs, network function virtualization, software defined network, mobility and energy efficiency issue in wireless network, local cloud/fog computing, smart grid and content delivery network, all with specific focus, mainly on protocol design and performance aspects. Dr. Newaz is an ACS and an IEEE Senior Member.

STANDARDIZATION:
Contributed at ITU-T for standardization for couple of years. In the ITU-T Recommendation Y.3022, I contributed showing how energy consumption of an Optical Network Unit can be quantified when it uses different power modes. Additionally, I submitted and presented few proposals regarding energy-efficiency capability class of networks elements at ITU-T Study Group 13, Question 16 (Rapporteur of this group Dr. Gyu Myoung Lee[1]).
